CHBA Edmonton’s NextGen Committee Wins Big for Community Service

As a long-standing member of the Canadian Home Builders Association, Creative Door Services is committed to supporting the CHBA and its local industry committees. Several Creative Door employees serve on these committees, including Edmonton's NextGen which targets up-and-coming members of the industry and encourages them to give back to the community.

On May 6, 2016, CHBA Edmonton's NextGen Committee was awarded the CHBA National Community Service Award for their dedicated efforts throughout the previous year to engage and improve communities across the Edmonton region.

"The committee is thrilled to be recognized for our charitable work and service to the community," says Teresa Christensen, Creative Door residential outside sales representative and Edmonton's NextGen Committee member. "In 2015, we undertook several initiatives to improve the quality of life in our community, and this award confirms that we've done just that."

These initiatives included volunteering in the Capital City Clean Up as well as during the Christmas season packaging food hampers for less fortunate families at the Edmonton Food Bank.

Most recently, the committee held a BBQ fundraiser to raise donations for those affected by the wildfire devastation in Fort McMurray. The event raised four truckloads of donated goods for the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services and nearly $7,000 in monetary donations for the Red Cross.

"My work with the committee is incredibly rewarding," says Christensen. "I can only hope that the recognition we've received along with this award inspires more of my peers to get involved."
