Creative Door Teams Up with Overwaitea Foods for Charity

It was eight years ago that Creative Door employee Cliff Rempel, who has a family connection to Overwaitea Foods, decided to connect the two businesses in support of the B.C. Children’s Hospital with the Overwaitea Ride for Child Health BC.

In the past seven years Cliff and his team have been responsible for collecting over $250,000 for the charity. This past year the ride happened on July 11, 12, and 13th, and it was a gorgeous weekend to ride through the stunning Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

The group of 21 motorcyclists  travelled from store to store throughout the valley serving up fresh hot pancakes, burgers, and hot dogs to patrons in the area.  Their hard work didn’t stop there; the group was also able to assist shoppers by carrying groceries to their vehicles, all in support of the great cause.

With no end in sight and further donation goals in mind, the group has plans to expand the fundraising efforts in the coming years.

Next year will mark the 100th year of business for Overwaitea Foods, and there are plans to expand the ride to mark the centennial.  Be sure to watch for details on the 2015 ride next summer!
