Did you know? Genie®’s Aladdin Connect® garage door opener systems are now compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can use voice commands to inquire about the status of your garage door and open or close it from anywhere in the world. Here’s what you need to know.

Features of the Aladdin Connect®

Garage door openers with Aladdin Connect® technology can easily be linked to your smartphone via Wi-Fi so you can do the following:

• Keep an access history
• Schedule time-based rules
• Set up virtual keys for friends, neighbours, relatives, babysitters, pet walkers, and more
• Virtually open the door for guests without using a temporary password

You can also create rules to ensure your garage door will automatically close if it’s left open.

How To Connect Your Device

You can use your voice to control your Aladdin Connect® garage opener by directly speaking to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. However, to take advantage of this new feature, you’ll need to enable Aladdin Connect® smart home. This will require you to create an account or re-link your existing Aladdin Connect® account.

• Pair Amazon Alexa
  Amazon has worked closely with the Genie® engineering team to develop a smart home skill for garage door openers. For example, instead of saying “Alexa, ask Aladdin Connect® to open my garage,” you can now simply say, “Alexa, open my garage door.” Additionally, you can name multiple garage doors in the Alexa app which can be used as part of your voice commands. For example, you can say “Alexa, open garage door number two.”
  
  To get started, log in or create an Aladdin Connect® account. In the Alexa App, press the “Enable Skill” button to link your Aladdin Connect® account. Once connected, say “Alexa, discover devices” and choose “Genie® Smart Garage.” You’re now ready to start using your device.
  
  
• Pair Google Assistant
  In the Google Home app under “Add to Home,” select “Set up device.” A list of devices that are compatible with Google Assistant will appear. Tap on “Genie® Smart Garage.”
  
  You’ll then be prompted to enter your Aladdin Connect® username and password. If you forget your password, you must open the Aladdin Connect® app and reset it before coming back to the Google Home app. After successfully logging in, your Google Assistant will be updated. It will say Genie® Smart Garage is linked at the bottom of the page.
  

Both Amazon and Google require you to say or enter a PIN to open your garage door.

Retrofit Product

If you don’t have a Wi-Fi enabled garage door opener, Genie® has developed an affordable, retrofit product that can turn most standard garage door openers into a smart opener.

The Aladdin Connect® retrofit product works with most sectional garage door openers manufactured after 1993 that are equipped with photo-eye safety sensors. One door control module can regulate up to three doors. However, you need one door position sensor per door. One module and sensor come standard with the kit and additional sensors are sold separately.

Genie® Garage Door Openers

• The Genie® Intellig Pro Series 4124 has a C-Channel rail that conceals the belt or chain for a streamlined appearance. It has an opening speed of nine inches per second and a quick start and stop feature. Furthermore, the Intellicode® security system prevents your PIN code from being hacked.
  
  
• The Genie® 2128 Connected Pro Series is available in a belt or chain drive system and has an opening speed of seven inches per second. It comes equipped with a Safe T-Beam® non-contact reversing system that stops and reverses if there’s anything in the door’s path. There’s also an electric lock system that automatically locks the door after closing to safeguard your garage.
  
  
• The Genie® 4164 TriloG Connect Pro features a screw drive rail that requires minimal maintenance. It has an opening speed of twelve inches per second and a backup battery that kicks in if the power goes out. Additionally, the wireless wall console can be placed anywhere in your garage.
