Virtual Design

Ever wondered how your home would look with old-world Carriage House garage doors? Or how your garage door would look with Stockford or Williamsburg windows? Do you even know what those are? Take the guesswork out of garage door design with our virtual Design Centre—an online tool that lets you build, customize, and visualize your perfect door. Aside from gaining a futuristic glimpse of your curb appeal, you’ll sidestep ill-fitting choices before you buy.

TIP: The virtual Design Centre works best on a desktop computer or tablet.

1. Start by choosing a garage door style.

Select a material, and door model that suits your taste. Some door styles even offer a choice of R-value. Then, move on to panel design, door size, and in some cases, trim details.

NOTE: Many of our door styles are in the Design Centre, but it’s not a complete picture of everything we have to offer, such as our all-glass Luminous Garage Doors, Landmark Series Models, and Copper Elite Series. The Handcrafted Wood door style is there, but options are shown through an image gallery and are not part of the virtual design system. That’s because these specialty doors are made to order – please contact one of our specialists to arrange a consultation.

2. Select your colour.

You’ll find a modest selection of popular paint and stain colours, because, let’s face it, loading all 6,000 choices offered through the Wayne Dalton TruChoice Colour System would bog down the application just a tad. Still, depending on the door model, colours such as red oak, walnut, gray, green, mahogany, clay, and more, are here so you’re bound to find a shade that’s close to your ideal colour. And, don’t worry; when it comes time to buy, you’re spoiled for colour choice—we can match virtually any colour with the Wayne Dalton TruChoice Colour System which ensures your garage door matches your home colour (if that’s what you want).

3. Add and customize your windows.

Our Design Centre puts a whole new spin on ‘window shopping.’ Do you prefer the “16 Arched” mullion windows on the Model 6600 Westfield Carriage House Doors? Or the simpler look of a single row of windows across the top of the Model 8700 Colonial Specialty Vinyl Door? A single vertical column of obscured-glass windows down one side of a Designer Fiberglass Door (with horizontal V-groove) is a chic look. But is it your look? Come in and try it on!

4. Embellish with hardware—and behold the transformation.

It’s amazing how much the hardware can change the entire look of your garage door and the street view of your home. For instance, take our Classic Steel Door, Sonoma Model in white. This is a basic clean look that lets the elements around it shine. Now, add black-powder coated-steel fleur-de-lis hinges and a door pull and —Voila!— you’re looking at charming French Provençal.

5. Upload a photo of your home.

This beautiful feature displays an excellent approximation of how your design will look on your own home. But if you’re in the throws of creative design and would rather not drop everything, run outside, snap a photo of your home with an unobstructed view of your garage door, offload the photo, and upload it onto our virtual system—you don’t have to. Just choose from the many styles of homes that we’ve preloaded for a realistic curbside view of your design.

Of course, when you get serious about a style, to the point where you’d like to request a free quote, you might want to see it on your own home first. But you don’t have to do this upfront; you can start getting a feel for what you like right away.

Ready to try before you buy? Visit our virtual Design Centre to see how your newly designed garage door would look on your home. When you’re ready, contact one of our eight locations in Western Canada to request a free quote.
